Sustainability
According to the World Tourism Organization, sustainable tourism is defined as that which comprehensively considers the social, economic and environmental impacts, both present and future, in order to meet the needs of visitors, industry, the environment and local communities. Sustainability is essential in the field of tourism, as sustainable tourism seeks to minimise environmental impact while promoting economic benefits and the creation of new jobs.
This is why the Tourist Office is committed to the continuous improvement of sustainability in Destination.

Code of ethics
The Gorliz Tourist Office has been awarded the Basque Tourism Code of Ethics.
The aim of this Code of Ethics is to establish fundamental principles for the tourism sector in the Basque Country to incorporate responsibility and sustainability in its daily work, based on respect and the promotion of mutual understanding in relation to the customer.
The Code has been developed taking into account the ‘Global Code of Ethics for Tourism’ (UNWTO) based on the 17 sustainable development goals set out in the 2030 Agenda.
Among the values promoted by this label are equality, inclusion and acceptance of diversity, sustainability, support for local culture and traditions, and respect for human rights.
